Sterling Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Central Coast Vintner's Collection 2009
Our “shining star,” the Cabernet Sauvignon combines ripe, rich character with elegance and poise. Black berry fruit and ripe cherries leap from the glass, supported by toasty vanilla and cocoa. Full and fleshy across the midpalate, dark fruit reigns, balanced by good acidity and bright cherry notes. Smooth, fruit-driven tannins cradle the finish, integrating subtle elements of oak and spice. A real crowd pleaser, this is a wine for all occasions, pairing equally well with herb-encrusted rack of lamb and pizza alike.
Our iconic winery is perched high above the town of Calistoga on a mid-valley hill. Its stark architectural beauty, state-of-the-art winemaking facility, and panoramic views of Napa Valley from the rooftop deck have attracted visitors from all 50 states for over 30 years.
Blackberries are very prominent in this wine.
Nice central coast cab. Not a lot of depth but decent medium to dark fruit flavors, medium finish, slight acidity and slight, chewy tannins.
Dark purple in the glass. Concentrated dark fruits and woody aroma. Medium tannins. Great earthy, dark fruit flavors on the palate. Very enjoyable.
Can still stay in the cellar for a few mor years, but very drinkable now if you decant for a short time. On the nose some cassis and dark fruits. On the palate the tannins are gentle and allow some nice fruit to appear. Also picked up a slight hint of chocolate. The finish was somewhat short. A pretty good wine but not a special occassion wine
Boise et long en bouche
Sterling Cab is absolutely wonderfull wine. Ideal sweetness, balanced optimal tannins, full body, fruity and simply perfect red wine

Brimming with style and elegance, our Cabernet Sauvignon offers generous dark fruit and toasty spices. The nose is a heady mix of cedar, tobacco and oak spices over briary black fruits. In the mouth, flavors of dark cherry, ripe plum and mulberries unfold with supple ease, influenced by a small amount of Merlot, which fleshes out the midpalate and lends lovely red tones. A lively acidity picks up on the back of the palate as the dark fruit flavors exit with a peppery finish. Pair this well-balanced, medium-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon with grilled meats or pasta. - Winery
Sourced from distinctive terroir throughout Napa Valley along with one Knights Valley vineyard our Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon expresses spicy black cherry, briary blackberry, and mocha aromas and flavors. Hints of clove and anise persist over the lengthy finish, and ripe tannins add structure and plush texture on the palate.
Our Sterling Vintner's Collection Cabernet Sauvignon displays tiers of briary blackberry, currant, spice, and chocolate from California's Central Coast. Soft floral and herbal nuances add complexity, and a year of aging in oak barrels added toasty vanilla spice.
We craft each wine with this in mind, choosing gentle techniques tailored to bring out the aromas and flavors that each grape variety develops in the terroir it likes best.
Herersquo;s a good mouthful of Cabernet, with true varietal character. Blackberries and currants are generously framed in oak, and the tannins are nice and rich. It lacks a bit of complexity and subtlety, but this could be your house red.
Our 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon displays the rich, fruit-driven style of its California origins with the refined elegance typical of the varietal. The wine's dark profile shows blackberry, cassis and ripe cherry, accented by notes of vanilla and cocoa. The palate is full bodied, with inviting plumpness and smooth tannins that pick up bright cherry notes and a touch of spice on the finish. Combining classic style and structure with the supple charm of ripe fruit, this wine pairs well with rich meat dishes or winter pastas. - WineryVarietal Composition:86% Cabernet Sauvignon12% Merlot2% SyrahBarrel Aging: 12 months, 30% new oakAppellation:76% Monterey County9% Red Hills8% Paso Robles5% San Benito County2% North CoastAlcohol: 13.9%Acidity: 5.7 g/LpH: 3.66Ageability: 2011 to 2016 ** SOLD OUT **
