Stefano Farina Barolo 2010

Member Review by EMark:

Slight coppery/brownish tinge to the color in the glass. Somewhat musky/smoky nose. Initial mouth sensation was a blast of tartness. However, that has calmed down in subsequent sips. Some spice but a lot of dried fruit flavors—fig, prune. A ton of tannin. I’m not sure that will ever calm down in this one. US$32.99 from the Wine Club in Santa Ana in 2013.

Plum skin on the nose, with a hint of licorice. Full-bodied, with round, velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish that shows coffee and dark chocolate undertones. Beautiful. Best after 2011. 2,500 cases made.

This offering is well-balanced, with nicely integrated acidity, alcohol, and tannin. The 1997 Barolo is gigantic. It displays tell-tale aromas of roasted herbs, jammy cherries and blackberries, spice, and tar. Thick and viscous, with outstanding ripe... Robert Parker. A Nebbiolo wine from Piedmont in Italy. 1997 Stefano Farina Barolo 750ml
