In 1971 the first experimental vinifera vineyards were planted in Idaho by Symms Fruit Ranch, a family-owned fruit producer mainly growing apples and peaches. It is a viticulture rule of thumb that any area that can grow peaches can also grow premium vinifera wine grapes. Today, Ste.
