Sugary lemon drop on the nose. A Reddi-Whip can to the palate, this Chardonnay is masquerading as an unctuously delicious Viognier from the Condrieu. Peas and carrots combine with dark wheat to produce the banana split of California Chardonnay -- with a cherry on top.
Growing Region Santa Maria Valley is one of the few coastal areas in the Western Hemisphere that is bordered on the north and south by east-west mountain ranges. Extended hang times and rich soils create unique depth & complexity. Regarding technique, 85% of the 2012 vintage was fermented in French Oak, underwent malolactic fermentation, and was aged sur lie for 5 months to enhance mouth-feel. Just 15% of the juice was fermented in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation.This Chardonnay has aromas of orange blossom, tropical fruit, and vanilla, with many layers of flavors. It has a good dose of minerality, good acidity, and lots of length on the finish.
