Stark-Conde Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

External Review by Premium Wine & Spirits:

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is blended with 6% Petit Verdot, 5% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc and spent 22 months in French oak. It has a lively blackberry and boysenberry scented bouquet with a touch of oyster shell. The palate is sweet and sappy on the entry with crisp tannins and vibrant ripe blackberry pastille and blueberry notes. It is nicely balanced and pure towards the finish. You know, I approve of this more than the flagship wine. Drink now–2018.

All the wines are bottled without fining and filtration. We make about 3000 cases. The Stark-Condé Three Pines range consists of a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Syrah from high-elevation slopes. The name Three Pines is a reference to the lookout spot at the top of the farm, from which the highest vineyards are visible. The Three Pines range come in individually numbered bottles as their production is particularly limited. The Stark-Condé Stellenbosch range consists of a Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah made with carefully selected vineyard blocks on our property. Read less

A winey, tangy style for Cabernet, with damson plum, linzer torte and loganberry fruit stitched with savory herb and fresh tobacco leaf notes. Features a long, iron-tinged finish. Drink now through 2015.
