This Riesling from the Finger Lakes is perfect for drinking in the warm weather. Refreshing and light, it has delicate flavors of citrus and minerals. Pair this wine with a salad with baby greens, goat cheese, strawberries and balsamic vinaigrette.
A leader in Finger Lakes Rieslings (and wines in general), Standing Stone offers a lovely white with aromas of white flowers, lemon and peach. The overall balance of fruit, citrus, spice and acid gives the wine a delicate but serious touch. On the finish, spice and lemon prevail. Great wine with a touch of playfulness.
Very floral, with cherry blossom and honeysuckle notes leading the way for bright grapefruit pulp and kiwifruit notes. A tangy edge keeps the finish moving along, with a yellow apple note chiming in at the end for added length. Drink now.
A lively wine with round, full notes of tangerine and other exotic fruits. A hint of acidity balances the wine perfectly. The finish has a pleasant, flinty lift. Great with hard cheeses or foie gras.
Ripe, exotic fruits and appealing acidity make this white juicy and irresistible. Big peach, apricot and star fruit flavors lead up to an intense and elegant finish. Simple, straightforward and delicious is the easiest way to describe this wine; try it with cheesecake topped by fresh berries.
While walking around either of the Premier Group stores is it is easy to be seduced by wine from exotic locales from around the world and to overlook the quality wines being produced nearby in Southern Ontario and the Finger Lakes. Standing Stone is one of the new, up-and-coming Finger Lakes wineries, and their 1997 Riesling shows off-dry apricot, peach, and honey flavors balanced by brisk acidity. Enjoy this wine on its own or with oriental or spicy foods.
