Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Petite Sirah Napa Valley 2009
The rich aromatics of this wine include ripe black fruit, black currants, cocoa and hints of vanilla. On the palate, blackberry, black plums integrate with back notes of maple syrup, creme brulee, and hints of earth, to introduce a very full and voluptuous mouthfeel. With classic Petite Syrah tannin structure, this wine finishes with a long, chewy bitter-chocolate finish.
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is considered one of Napa Valley's first-growths. We were founded by Warren Winiarski and his family in 1970 and are best known for our estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignons — CASK 23, S.L.V., and FAY. Over the years, our wines have become some of the most highly regarded and collected wines worldwide. They are fashioned to express classic elegance, structure, and ageability, and to reflect the place in which they are grown.
Solid wine for the price. Excellent quality. Let breathe for ~1hr but drink within 3 hrs after opening as it loses its smooth finish.

Intensity, complexity, structure, and elegance are the signature descriptors of this wine. Aromas open with clove, spice and concentrated black fruit. As the wine opens, distinct blackberry notes are revealed along with balanced acidity, rounded tannins and fresh fruit flavors. Vanilla, brown sugar and subtle pepper persist at the finish with lingering juicy red fruit as well.
On one of California s earliest wine estates, a unique terroir and ideal microclimate support a classical standard of viticulture, land use, and winemaking that is as relevant today as it was over a century ago.
