Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Fay Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon(1997)

Packs in lots of rich, intense, deep flavors of currant, anise, coffee, cedar, mineral, sage and black cherry. Tightly wound, with rich, firm, earthy, detailed tannins, it needs a sign: patience required. 3,688 cases made.

Full medium ruby. Aromas of plum, chocolate and tobacco leaf, plus a note of scotch from the wood. Dense and layered, with truffle and oak components and a suggestion of wet wood. I get ripe fruit here, but also a nagging green quality that dries the finish.
