The 2008 CASK 23 offers continuously unfolding aromas of violets, cassis, whole and crushed blackberries, oak spice, dark cocoa, cedar and subtle cigar box. It s intense, yet still vibrant and fresh, with concentrated flavors which build through the finish and linger after each sip. Silky texture and refined tannins complete the portrait. Serve CASK 23 with braised beef cheeks or crown roast of lamb.
92-94 points Robert Parker: The outstanding 2008 Cask 23 Estate may be the finest Cask 23 made since the late eighties and early nineties. It will be in bottle by the time this report is read. A deep ruby/plum/purple color is accompanied by notes of sweet plums, black currants, cherries, spice box and cedar. The wine possesses beautiful texture, a full-bodied richness and a long, natural finish. It should drink well for 15 or more years. (Dec 2010)
