Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District Fay 1995

Winemaker's Notes:

Color: Burnished garnet with a rim of crushed raspberry. Aroma: The ambrosia of summer-ripened blackberry and wild strawberry with nutmeg highlights. Flavor: Lush elements of black cherry and cassis find delicacy around an elegantly drawn core. Discreet tannin gently carries the fruit through to a chewy close. The FAY vineyard is contiguous to S.L.V., the first of our three estate vineyards, which was planted in 1970. Our search for vineyard land near the Stags Leap palisades more than twenty-five years ago was guided by the taste of Nathan Fay's homemade Cabernet Sauvignon. When we purchased the FAY Vineyard in 1986, the age of the vines required replanting most of the land. Although adjacent to S.L.V., varying geographical influences produce slightly different fruit characteristics that are accentuated by the winegrower's art. FAY fruit is perfumey, voluptuous in body with tenderly honed tannins.

Stag's Leap Wine Cellars:
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars is considered one of Napa Valley's first-growths. We were founded by Warren Winiarski and his family in 1970 and are best known for our estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignons — CASK 23, S.L.V., and FAY. Over the years, our wines have become some of the most highly regarded and collected wines worldwide. They are fashioned to express classic elegance, structure, and ageability, and to reflect the place in which they are grown.

Beautiful! This wine is open and killing it right now, full of regal fruit and herbs. Palate is austere and delicious, full of leather and cranberries.
