As you can probably tell, I'm a huuuuuuge fan of Staglin. This is my favorite chardonnay. A bit more expensive than your ordinary chardonnay ($40+) but tasty nonetheless. Definitely fruity.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2003 estate Chardonnay once more delivers the distinctive qualities of our Rutherford vineyard: rich, fully ripe fruit aromas toned with elegance and balance. The growing season’s fairly moderate temperatures gave way in September to a short heat spike, encouraging the grapes to ripen. Upon the completion of their week-long late-September harvest, the grapes were pressed as whole clusters. Fermentation in French oak barrels enabled us to maximize the fruit’s character, and aging sur-lie and stirring of the yeast added richness and balance. The fruit character was further maintained by inhibiting malo-lactic fermentation, enhancing the natural acid balance. Aromas of ripe pear, honeysuckle and banana dominate the nose, complementing creamy, toasty oak. The palate explodes with flint flavors from our French clones, baked apple, lime and citrus flavors, followed by the oak’s nutmeg and vanilla. Six distinct clones add depth and complexity to the finish. This superbly crafted Chardonnay can be enjoyed now or aged for an additional 3 - 5 years.
