Staglin Family Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford Estate 2002
Our ‘Salus’ Cabernet Sauvignon showcases the softer and fruitier side of our estate vineyard, and is produced mainly from our newest plantings. These new selections produce grapes with soft, youthful tannins and lively bouquet, displaying the distinguished quality of “Rutherford dust.” The 2002 vintage reveals a complex nose of blackberries, ripened Quesch plums, black olive, candied dates and notes of earth (forest floor) and sweet vanilla. The full-bodied palate carries through in displaying additional notes of black cherry, hints of Mocha coffee and presents beautiful velvety tannins. Youthful, round and charming, this wine will continue to open and gain even more complexity as it matures for the next decade.
We Staglins are a family that enjoys wine and cares deeply about philanthropy. Each person in our family, Shari, Garen, Brandon and Shannon, works together to make our motto, “great wines for great causes,” a reality. The wine we make is a not only a passion in itself but also a means to make the world a better place.
