2005 Staglin Estate Cabernet Sauvignon- Dark purple tinged color. This has the classy crème de cassis and camphor I so love. A mid to heavy weight cab with great cassis, black cherry notes, some earth and some pencil shavings. Very seductive and pure, just what I believe these are known for. A year or two would surely make this a stunner. 92/100

External Reviews for Staglin Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Rutherford 1
Staglin?s primary red wine is their estate Cabernet Sauvignon, which comes from their beautifully manicured and cared-for vineyards in the hillsides of Rutherford. None other than David Abreu looks after the viticulture, and of course that means yields are frightfully low. The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate has a Bordeaux-like, cedary nose intermixed with black currants, crushed rocks, smoke, and earth. The wine has beautiful texture, lots of layers, depth, richness, and a long finish. The overall impression is one of elegance and restraint, but without sacrificing richness. This wine should evolve nicely for at least two decades.
This wine jumps from the glass with an animated nose of flowers, black cherries and ripe plums liberally inflected with aromas of cedar shavings, cigar box, wet river rocks and graphite...
Red wine - 2005 - Staglin Family Cabernet Sauvignon - USA - Region: California - Apellation: Napa Valley - Cabernet Sauvignon - 750 ml.
Bold rich and plush this is impeccably balanced with ripe complex plum wild berry and smoky mocha-laced oak that's woven into the flavor profile. Focused deep and persistent. Has a long complex aftertaste with a nutmeg scent. Best from 2009 through 2015. [92 pts Robert Parker] The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits a dense purple color more obvious tannin and a more masculine style than the 2003. It's a bigger wine with additional notes of scorched earth blueberries blackberries and heady cassis. Unlike most 2004 Napa Cabernets this weighty effort will require some bottle aging. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring and consume it over the following two decades.
