Stafford Hill Pinot Noir 2010

External Review by Wine Gems @ Perriello's:

Willamette Valley, OregonStafford Hill Pinot Noir is a beautiful expression of Oregon Pinot Noir. Stafford Hill is the second label of Holloran Vineyard Wines, which produces small quantities of handcrafted wine from premium vineyard sites in Oregon's Willamette Valley. All the fruit for this wine was sourced from Bill Holloran's La Chenaie Vineyard located in the Eola-Amity Hills AVA near Salem. Eola-Amity Hills receives a strong cooling marine influence that pushes inland from the Pacific Ocean through the Van Duzer Corridor. This red wine gem was aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, 10% new. The 2010 Stafford Hill Pinot noir is barrel selected to reflect pure handcrafted Oregon Pinot noir flavors. The nose offers sweet cherry fruit and forest underbrush, with food-friendly acidity and structure on the palate, and a floral perfume in the mouth and finish. Made in the style of traditional Burgundy, the fruit is sourced from non-irrigated vines with fermentation occurring in small open-top tanks that are punched down by hand. The wine is silky smooth on the palate with a long, pleasurable finish. Enjoy Stafford Hill Pinot Noir now and over the next 4-6 years with grilled salmon, roast pork, grilled vegetables and cheeses.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
