Editorial Reviews
For 2006 Vintage
Sweet toasted oak and cinnamon bun lead off the nose which has a slightly jammy underlay of black raspberry and plum with just a hint of ripe herb. Nicely balanced on entry with just a hint of sweetness on entry then this gains nice tension from the tannin. It's a touch soft but the blackberry and candied cherry fruit offers good intensity without being overbearing and while there is decent length it's a touch monolithic and blocky. Easy style. 86pts
Vintage Notes
2006 was a year of extremes in weather. A cooler than normal, wet spring was followed by a very long, hot summer. The weather was nearly ideal during the growing season. Summer fell into a consistent pattern of dry, warm days and cool nights. Harvest began early, with some white grapes being picked in late August. A cool spell in mid-September slowed things down and allowed more hang time for enhanced flavor development.
Vineyard Notes
This Cabernet is sourced from vineyards predominately from the Wahluke Slope in Washington state, including our Indian Wells Vineyard. Our most northern growing area, the Wahluke Slope is bordered on both the west and the south by the Columbia River. Indian Wells Vineyard is a very warm site with a long growing season. The site’s loamy, sandy, well-draining soils allow vine growth to be meticulously controlled through drip irrigation and canopy management. The region is a consistent producer of high quality, ripe fruit, yielding wine with intense color and flavor.
Tasting Notes
“The Indian Wells Cabernet is our warm climate ripe, jammy, “New World” style of Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2006 blend really typifies the Wahluke Slope region with up front, dark fruit aromas and flavors with hints of vanilla. Vineyards in the area are more than a decade old now and showing character and complexity.”

Reviews for 2006 Vintage
This winery caught my eye this year. First it was their Riesling (excellent) and now this one. Although the label says it a Cabernet Sauvignon, it is actually a blend of 5 different grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon 76%, Syrah 20%, Merlot 2%, Cabernet Franc 1% and Malbec 1%.
The sweet toasted oak and cinnamon bun lead off the nose which has a slightly jammy underlay of black raspberry and plum with just a hint of ripe herb. It is nicely balanced on entry and yet has a hint of sweetness which gains nice tension from the tannin. It's a somewhat softer wine due to the blending, but that’s why they blend so as not to be as harsh as some Cabernet Sauvignons.
The blackberry and candied cherry fruit offers good intensity without being overbearing, there is decent length to it's touch and tongue. I believe this wine is done in French Oak, and it actually does well if the wine is aerated prior to drinking as to soften lightly the oak, although not objectionable as is.
After my first bottle, went out the next day and bought a half case. This wine is drinkable now but probably could get better in another year or two.
Decent cabernet - plum flavors meshed with herbs - slight tannic finish - not an outstanding wine by any means, but, a nice selection for having with steak - enjoyed it with some hot sauce added to the steak, seem to enhance the flavors
Fruity aroma, classical bordeaux blend, good acidiy with soft tannin. Ruby juicy. Might be able to age anther 5 years. Canoot complain for the price we paid for this. (Feb 2011)
Black cherry and chocolate, dry, lingering aftertaste, a bit overdone on the oak. Medium color.
Nice cab but not spectacular for the price
I reviewed this wine for http://www.thecorkscrooge.com this afternoon. The gist: The cabernet does offer a nice first impression with a fruit forward, slightly dry, taste that has a lingering black cherry aroma. A few minutes later as we poured the second glass, the wine had not only failed to mellow, it actually appeared to have “tarted up” a bit.
All in all, the 2006 vintage was entirely drinkable, and if you found it on a restaurant menu for a good price by the glass I doubt you would be disappointed. However, for $15 a bottle, the wine is overpriced and fails to deliver the quality of many of its lesser priced rivals.
Lush, bold and fruit forward with shades of blackberry and black licorice. Nice depth and excellent balance. Ready to drink now, but could stand a bit more aging. Fine wine for the price. Fine wine at any price. 89.
Sweet, dry fruit. Flavors of prune and raisins. Very good finish.
