St. Michael Eppan Pinot Grigio 2011
Light green lustre run through the straw colour of this wine whose aroma is rich in fruits, the most striking of which are pears. An excellent acidity balance gives this wine strength and structure. It is dry and smooth on the palate, and leaves a long, pleasant aftertaste. The Pinot Grigio goes well with many dishes, especially lighter foods, to which it is an excellent accompaniment. It is served chilled and also bestows a fine taste following longer ageing.
St. Michael Eppan, the innovative Winery situated along the Wine Route, is considered one of the best wineries in South Tyrol and Italy. St. Michael Eppan Winery, with its 355 members, 350 hectares of vineyard and 2.5 million bottles sold every year, has become renowned worldwide. The „Sanct Valentin“ label alone is enoughenough to thrill wine lovers and connoisseurs.

One of our favorite Pinot Grigios for several vintages the St Michael-Eppan hails from Alto Adige the appellation famed for the Santa Margherita and renowned for fuller-flavored smooth Pinots. This wine is richer than many with bright citrus and tropical fruit notes. Excellent for cocktails or aperitifs but definitely try this one with roasted chicken dishes.

Pretty aromas of sliced white peach follow through to a full-bodied palate, with bright, lemony fruit and a long, crisp finish. A racy style. Drink now.
Fresh and superclean, with peach and lemon on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, leaving a pleasant dry stone aftertaste. Drink now.
The Y-shaped valley formed by the confluence of the Adige and Isarco rivers is the source of Italy's northern-most winemaking regions, the Alto Adige, from where Roger Clemens could throw a ball to Austria! Here St Michael-Eppan (Eppan is German for the Italian Appiano, a terroir favored for white grape varieties) produces a Pinot Grigio that is pale straw in color, has soft citrus and mineral flavors and finishes with spritely acidity. Perfect for fish and summer picnics.
This cooperative of more than 350 members has access to some of the best vineyards in Alto Adige. The vines are planted on calcareous, gravelly soils and enjoy warm days and cool nights, allowing the grapes to fully ripen without losing acidity. The 2008 vintage, with persistent rain into August, was potentially disastrous, but favorable weather before harvest, low yields and careful work in the cellar allowed winemaker Hans Terzer to craft a complex and balanced wine.
