St. Laurent Altenberg 2005

Member Review by Alvina:

Wine made from quite rare grape variety Saint Laurent (synonyms: Saint Laurent, Pinot Saint Laurent, Laurenzitraube, Svatovavřinecké). It’s a highly aromatic dark wine grape of the same family as Pinot Noir, originating in France. It was imported to Germany and is planted quite frequently in Austria and the Czech Republic. The wine is dark and opaque. Vanilla, black fruits, candy on the nose. Rather sweet on the palate. Is a bit heavy and lacks harmony.

This success derives, first and foremost, from a clear determination to abide by long-established traditions: respect for nature and wine, dedication to quality, and strong and lasting relationships with all those associated with the company, within and without. It is also the result of the sheer driving force of Bernard de Nonancourt, the creator of the Laurent-Perrier range, and that of his daughters, Alexandra and Stéphanie, who are concentrating their own energies on preserving the Group’s independence and perpetuating its values.
