St. Hallett Shiraz Faith Australia South Australia Barossa 2011

Member Review by duncan 906:

I bought this bottle of wine from the website www.bidforwine.co.uk/auctions/show/130758 for £10. The Barossa valley is named after the nearby Barossa hills although the river that runs through it is called the North Para river and is located about 40 miles north-east of the City of Adelaide in South Australia. It is one of Australia's best known wine making regions with a history going back to the mid 19th century.. I started my bottle last night with my supper of beef stew.I thought it a full bodied wine with plenty of cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant style fruit and a hint of pepper or spice especially on the finish with soft but well structured tannins. In short I thought this a first class bottle that definitely stands comparison with some of the better northern Rhones

St Hallett Wines:
St Hallett winery was founded in 1944 by the Lindner family but they only made fortified wines until 1980 when they moved into table wines.Today the winert focuses on crafting full-flavoured , textured wines entirely from Barossa fruit.
