St Hallett Shiraz Barossa 2010

Member Review by Svennevig:

Like many Barossa Shiraz varietals, this ranks among the best Shiraz produced in Australia. This one was wonderfully smooth with pronounced cherries on the nose and palate, with the addition of a perfect hint of oaky vanilla and pepper. This is what most Australian Shiraz's aspire to be.

Its not the deepest or most profound shiraz on the market but it hits the sweet spot bang on. It tastes of sawdusty oak, black cherries, blackberries and fresh, boysenberry-like fruit. Excellent freshness to this wine. Its buoyant and succulent. Ea... Wine Front. A Syrah wine from South Australia in Australia. 2010 St Hallett Shiraz Faith 750ml

A more cool climatic expression of Shiraz despite its origins, yet pulls it off with aplomb. Some grippy tannins give the wine a pliancy and good astringency. This wine relies less on oak, as with certain wines. Drink now and over the next eight year... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. Good depth to red-purple colour; attractive wine; exuberant red and black cherry fruit aromas on the bouquet lead into a juicy, spicy, medium-bodied palate; fine tannins and oak are in carefully measured support. 100% Barossa Shiraz fermented in small lots then aged 14 months in American oak barrels. Vibrant, spicy red fruits framed by solid oak tannins and lovely finish. ldquo;Like Christmas Puddingrdquo; as the Aussie say.

Spicy and ripe-tasting, itrsquo;s generous with its cranberry-scented plum and anise flavors that linger on the round, mouthfilling finish. Tempting now, but wait until 1999 for the oak to meld.

Supple, refreshing and brimming with plum, currant and blackberry, remaining round and polished through the juicy finish. Each sip calls for another as the anise, tar and vanilla notes chime in on the finish.
