St. Francis Zinfandel Old Vine 2006
Definitely can get some of the fruit forwardness but not overpowering, and easy drinking. I believe this bottle was about $24 and at that price there are better wines and better zins. It looks like the prices greatly vary and if you could get this in the $12-$16 range, that seems to be more fitting a value.
A solid zine for ~$20. Nothing remarkable but a nice easy drinking wine overall.
Very spicy and toasty. The finish is medium to long but this was a bit too heavy on the alcohol which overpowered any potential for jamminess or fruit.
What a nice Costco wine surprise. Retails for $26 (?), see it advertised for $19, picked up at Costco for $13. Man, why didn't I pick up a case? An easy drinking zinfandel with a rare bit of finesse for this rather bold grape. I'm truly taken back by this wine which makes for a stand alone afternoon wine or a wine that can stand well with a meal. Lovely wine in spite of the high 15.5% alcohol content.
our favorite red from st. francis. very strong and spicy.
Nice drinkable zin. 15.5 percent. Think bought at costco for 17.
Forget about the fancy descriptions. . .An oak finish that slaps your tongue sideways with old-world charm! Great with lasagna.
