St. Francis Cabernet Sauvignon 1997
90 points Robert Parker: The 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (almost totally from the Nun's Canyon Vineyard) is reasonably priced for a wine of such high quality. An opaque purple color is accompanied by a big, bold, spicy, oaky nose infused with licorice, coffee, and abundant quantities of blackberry and cassis fruit. Full-bodied, rich, and impressive, with sweet tannin as well as abundant wood, it will drink well for the next 15 years. (Dec 2000)

St. Francis, established in 1979, was the site of the Last Mission on the California Mission Trail. Planted to orchards prior to grapes, the wines are fruity, and thanks to the process of mixing French and American oak-aged wines, creamy and luscious on the palate. Try it with broiled meats and pasta with red sauce.
