What to Expect

Rhone Blends are generally based on Grenache, though some blends may be predominantly Syrah or Mourvedre. The fact that these wines are blends gives the winemakers unusual flexibility in creating a finished wine. In the Southern Rhone Valley of France the styles can range from light, fruity, soft Cotes du Rhone to big, bold, age worthy Chateaunuef-du-pape. This blend is also very popular in Australia and the United States where they frequently go by the Moniker GSM (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre) and exhibit the rich, bold fruit that both countries are famous for.

Reviews

Louis's success in the difficult vintage of 1997 was the reason I first went to see him. Although no 'Valbelle' was made in that year the Gigondas that was bottled was a triumph. It is a delight to drink now and I am pleased to have been able to buy a little extra. If you wish to experience the wines of St. Cosme and you don't wish to have your teeth coated in tannin for days then try this wine, you will not be disappointed! See our 1997 Rhone offer for more notes.
