St. Clement Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Oroppas 2002
Barrel aged in 80% new French oak, this Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend has intense color with aromas of mocha, sweet chocolate, cedar and rose petal coupled with the essence of red cherries. Medium-bodied, with flavors of candied orange peel and zest, this wine lingers on the palate along with integrated tannins for a seamless finish. This wine was blended with Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc to enhance color and flavor intensity.
On introduction, nicely supportive, not, yet, completely resolved tannins accompany fruit of cassis and plum. As the wine passes under the mid-palate, herbal hints pop up—anise. A fairly robust wine. Good acid, along with the aforementioned still apparent tannins suggests that this wine can continue to age nicely for a few more years.
