St Barthelemy Cellars Zinfandel Port Zinfandel 2001

Winemaker's Notes:

For Zin lovers everywhere! The taste of bold spice, dark berries, and a trace of almond leave a long finish. Great with figs, dates and nut torts, this outstanding port's fruit is from one of the signature vineyards in Amador County, Deaver. Some recommended food pairings are crab cakes, blackened fish, figs, chocolate and cheeses like Gorgonzola and goat cheeses from www.igourmet.com.

St. Barthélemy Cellars is our small, family owned and operated winery in Napa Valley. Our labor of love is producing premium varietal port wines unique in style and flavor. Each of our ports is made from a single grape variety, lending familiar characteristics while creating deep berry flavors and complexity. Fortified at a lower residual sugar level than most other ports, they are enjoyable as an apertif, main course accompaniment or dessert wine. Check out our story and order directly online in the Wine Shop. Better yet, join our Porte Au Vin Wine Club to guarantee access to our very limited production. We thank you for your interest in St. Barthélemy Cellars Varietal Ports. At St. Barthélemy Cellars, we strive to make ports that showcase the wonderful fruit flavors of the many grape varieties grown in California. Our goal is to produce varietal ports with lower residual sugar levels so that the grape’s natural and unique varietal characteristics are not masked by an overly sweet quality. Traditional Ports usually have a residual sugar of 12-14% whereas our ports are 5-8 % residual sugar. We have succeeded in creating a portfolio of seven premium varietal ports; Barbera, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Sirah, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and Zinfandel, with additional varieties to be released in the future. All of our ports can be enjoyed with a wide range of food pairings or simply savored on their own. Rich and full-bodied, each wine’s flavors are enhanced by the aged brandy and low residual sugar.
