St. Amant Winery Tempranillo Amador County 2008

Add your reviewSt. Amant is a small winery in Lodi California almost famous for their high quality reds like zinfandel, tempranillo. The tempranillo is softer than a zinfandel, with a bit more spice, maybe a hint of anise or even clove. Not very dry, with dark berry flavors, it reminded me of Marie Callendar's razzleberry pie. Look for great things from this winery in the future because they know a good grape when they crush one! When someone very famous said "Seize the day!", I'm sure they meant to have a bottle of wine too!
I completely agree with jjknight38... but as a big Tempranillo geek (the grape that got me started with wine many years ago, while backpacking through Spain), I'd have to say St. Amant's temp is probably the best I have ever had, anywhere, period. I love how much sweetness theirs has... without completely overwhelming the pepper and spice flavors which are more common and more prominent in all the other Tempranillo I've had. St. Amant's Zin is also wonderful, but my other favorite of theirs is the Barbera.
