Spice Route Winery 'The Amos Block' Sauvignon Blanc 2015

Winemaker's Notes:

From his early winemaking days at the Perdeberg Co-Op, Charles Back, owner of Spice Route, was mindful of ‘how easily quality happens in Swartland’. Based near Malmesbury, in the Swartland region North-west of Paarl, Charles Back established Spice Route in 1997 and continues the innovation that he is so well known for. Charl du Plessis is the winemaker. Spice Route wines are recognized for their exceptionally ripe and deep flavoured wines. This Sauvignon Blanc is made from the first harvest of grapes sourced from Spice Route's new vineyard on the edge of the Western Cape in the Darling region. The resulting wine is bright white gold in colour with flashes of emerald highlights. The nose is distinctly aromatic with fresh cut grass and green pepper elements and hints of tropical fruits. The palate is light to medium bodied and dry, packed with ripe gooseberry and lime fruits with hints of lychee and a crisp, mineral freshness which lifts the middle palate and keeps the finish lengthy and elegant. This incredibly versatile white is refreshing as a glass by itself but can also complement all manner of salads, canapes, entrees or white fish dishes. Divine with sashimi or tempura dishes with spicy dipping sauces.
