Food Pairings for Spice Route Syrah Swartland Flagship
This wine is produced in a modern, layered style, expressive of the Swartland and showing a good balance of spicy fruit. The fruit used to craft this wine is from a trellised dryland vineyard on the Rheeboksfontein farm outside Malmesbury and a bushvine vineyard on the Amoskuil farm, above the Spice Route cellar. These prime Swartland vineyards are both planted on deep red oakleaf and koffieklip soils. The wine is in a modern layered style, expressive of the Swartland and showing a good balance of spicy fruit. Earthy and rich fruit aromas meet in the glass, with hints of white pepper that tickle the nose. Juicy red and black fruit show on a sturdy palate, with good oak character and evident longevity. The perfect match for very rich red meat and game dishes with strong sauces.
