Spice Route Red Blend Swartland Chakalaka 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

Vibrant red colour. Ripe, dark fruit aromas with cloves coming through on the nose. Medium to full bodied with ripe spicy plums and dark cherry fruit flavours. Oaking is restrained, but provides structure to back up the ripe flavours.

Rich red and black berry nose with cedar, incense and Indian spices. Notes of plum, blackberry, some blueberry and crushed black pepper. Big, concentrated flavor up front on a powerful frame. Some hints of cola with black cherry, blackberry, black plum, some dried red fruits and a peppery, smoky edge. Nice mix of spice on a lingering finish. Good! 89 pts.

Spicy, bold fruits... An exciting and dynamic wine to drink.

Very pure, with mouthwatering sanguine notes piercing through the deliciously ripe blackberry, blueberry and raspberry fruit. The long, silky finish lets incense and mineral notes play out. Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan. Drink now through 2010.

Bright red-ruby. Aromatic nose combines blackberry, violet, dark chocolate, mint and dried herbs. Very ripe but spicy and juicy, with hints of roasted berries and game supported by a firm spine of acidity. Irsquo;d drink this moderately deep wine in the next year or two.

Rich, but stylish and alluring, delivering mulled plum, currant and fig notes laced with black tea, supported by a nice graphite edge on the smoky finish. Syrah, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Souzou, Grenache, Tannat and Petite Sirah. Drink now.

Weingut: Spice Route WinesLand: SüdafrikaRegion: PaarlRebsorten: 57% Shiraz, 20% Grenache, 17% Mourvedre, 6% CarignanInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14,5 Vol.%Säuregehalt: 5,75 g/lRestsüße: 4 g/lEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16 - 18 °CFassreife: in Barriques gereift (14 Monate)Lagerfähigkeit: 5 - 7 Jahre ab JahrgangAuszeichnungen des Spice Route Chakalaka 2008:5 Sterne - Decanter, Februar 2009 Weißwein > Südafrika > Paarl - Franschhoek
