A pleasing nose of cinnamon and cloves does little to prepare you for the extremely bold spice flavors in this wine. Like a big heaping spoon full of all of the sweet spices in your cabinet: cinnamon, cloves, allspice and ginger with a red berry zing at the end! Very pleasant and the spice fades some after decanting. Might be overpowering to easily pair with foods.

Weingut: Spice Route WinesLand: SüdafrikaRegion: PaarlRebsorte: PinotageInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14,75 Vol.%Säuregehalt: 6,5 g/lRestsüße: 1,75 g/lEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16 - 18 °CFassreife: in Barriques gereift (14 Monate)Lagerfähigkeit: 5 - 7 Jahre ab JahrgangAuszeichnungen des Spice Route Pinotage 2007:4 Platter StarsSilver Medaille - International Wine Challenge  Rotwein > Südafrika > Paarl - Franschhoek

Winemaker's Notes:

An excellent example of quality Pinotage. The grapes were hand picked at optimum ripeness and were taken to the winery in perfect condition. Warm berry fruit flavours and tobacco spice make for a full-bodied and complex wine that has depth and tremendous concentration. A Pinotage that rivals the Rhone for spice and generosity, but with exceptionally ripe fruit to boot. Ideal with roast red meats, game and barbecued food - as tested at many a good 'Braai' in South Africa!
