Sparkman Darkness Syrah Wine 2011

External Review by JJ Buckley Fine Wines:

Good full ruby. Musky blueberry black raspberry pepper and spices on the slightly high-toned inviting nose. Sweet and rich in the mouth with decent acidity to frame the fat dark berry and baking spice flavors and enough fruit to carry its oak element gracefully. Finishes with big broad tannins and building oakiness. Stephen Tanzers IWC.

My favorite of the reds and a gorgeous Syrah that comes mostly from the Boushey Vineyard (30% from Olsen) the 2011 Syrah Darkness is 100% Syrah that spent 16 months in 30% new oak. It reveals stunning purity as well as copious blackberry game salted beef and dark chocolate-like aromas and flavors. This full-bodied concentrated effort has loads of fruit mouthwatering yet integrated acidity and a knockout finish. While approachable it will benefit from short-term cellaring and have over a

Young and still tightly-wound this excellent example of Yakima valley Syrah combines fruit from both Boushey and Olsen two of the best sites for the grape anywhere in Washington. Aged in 30% new oak it
