My favorite of the reds and a gorgeous Syrah that comes mostly from the Boushey Vineyard (30% from Olsen) the 2011 Syrah Darkness is 100% Syrah that spent 16 months in 30% new oak. It reveals stunning purity as well as copious blackberry game salted beef and dark chocolate-like aromas and flavors. Good full ruby. Musky blueberry black raspberry pepper and spices on the slightly high-toned inviting nose. Sweet and rich in the mouth with decent acidity to frame the fat dark berry and baking spice flavors and enough fruit to carry its oak element gracefully.
