Spann Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley 2007
Wonderful mix of black cherry, blackberry, and cassis with notes of tar and spices (bay leaf, others). Good fruit but not overly jammy, well balanced with silky tannins and oak providing vanilla notes. Moderate but flavorful, slightly peppery finish.Add winemaker's notes
Nestled among the majestic coastal redwoods of the Mayacamas Mountains, our steeply terraced mountainside vineyard yields small amounts of richly flavored Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Sangiovese grapes. From this and select cool-climate vineyards throughout Sonoma County we craft limited quantities of European-style blended wines, strongly influenced by Bordeaux, the Rhone Valley and Tuscany.
Wonderful mix of black cherry, blackberry, and cassis with notes of tar and spices (bay leaf, others). Good fruit but not overly jammy, well balanced with silky tannins and oak providing vanilla notes. Moderate but flavorful, slightly peppery finish.
External Reviews for Spann Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Alexander Valley
This is our first Cabernet with all five Bordeaux varietals in it and the Petit Verdot and Malbec have added more richness and mouth-feel. The aroma is of dark cherries, toffee, spice and slightly herbal. Very rich in the mouth with great structure, the taste is of cherries and blackberries The finish is long and smooth with soft tannins. Released August 1, 2008, this wine tastes great now and will gain in complexity over the next 10 years with proper cellaring.
