This is a dry, fairly smooth cab with some tannins but rather bland (2006). 86 pts

Scent is earthy, with berry and green wood notes. Dry, dark cherry flavor with a powdery finish.

Nice full bodied yummy CA Cabernet. I would guess that this one can really handle some cellar time. Tannins were very present and took a while to settle. Chocolate, cardamom and vanilla lingered on the palette. Definitely needs a decanting. I'd buy this one again.

A bit too much bite right out of the bottle, but settled after it breathed a while. Very good with grilled steak.

Beautifully defined and richly flavored fruit shows of ripe currant and black cherry, anise and sage, with hints of dill, cedar and spice. Tannins are a bit gritty, but nothing time in the bottle won't resolve. Drink now through 2008.

Spicy, peppery oak aromas lead to a balanced display of earthy currant, cedar and spice, though it thins out on the finish, showing more tannic strength. Drink now through 2007.

Supple, with a mix of ripe currant, plum, herb, green olive, cedar and exotic spice. Well-focused, with a pleasant sense of harmony and finesse, it caresses the palate, ending on a ripe, complex note. Best of three bottles. Drink now through 2010.

Ripe and rich, with firm plum, herb, black cherry and spice flavors that are sharply focused, long and rich on the finish. Has the tannin for midterm cellaring. Drink now through 2006.

This distinctive Cabernet Sauvignon from the acclaimed Alexander Valley contains rich, concentrated flavors of currant, blackberry and chocolate balanced by soft tannins and sweet vanilla, oak nuances. A real crowd pleaser.

The dark ruby/purple colored 1997 Cabernet Sauvignon displays an excellent black currant, dried Provençal herb, toasty oak, and sweet black fruit-scented nose. The wine possesses tremendous fruit, medium to full body, low acidity and a soft, succulent texture. It is a delicious Cabernet to drink over the next 7-10 years.

Owned by the Nestlë Corporation since 1986, Chateau Souverain has become a red-hot producer with the additional purchase of vineyard property in the Alexander Valley. Ready to enjoy now, the 1996 Cabernet has rich, concentrated flavors of currant, blackberry and coffee, harmoniously balanced with well-rounded tannis and toasty oak nuances that also will develop with further cellaring.
