What to Expect
Pinotage, a cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, is considered to be one of the classic grapes from South Africa. It can produce a very distinctive wine with a hint of rubber on the nose that leads to a rather fruity palate with notes of banana, plum and cherry. While the grape is high in tannins, the wine is produced in a broad range of styles.

Reviews Add a Review
Rating: 90/100 - As reviewed by International Wine Cellar in Issue 131, March/April 2007 ($19) Bright, saturated ruby-red. Aromas of crushed blackberry, mulberry and minerals, with a medicinal suggestion of band-aid. Then dense and vibrant, with excellent intensity to the slightly high-toned crushed berry and spice flavors. Plenty of incipient complexity here, but this dry, fruit-driven pinotage needs a couple years in the bottle. Finishes very long and spicy, with a sexy note of woodsmoke.
