Aside from the vast open space and natural beauty, Owner/VintnerJim Carter was drawn to Temecula Valley for its high quality wine producing potential. The Temecula wine region is relatively free of vineyard pests, including the deadly root louse, Phylloxera, though the region was one of the first to suffer the wrath of Pierces Disease. Decomposing granitic materials in the light, sandy loam soil provide excellent drainage and most of the vines in the region are planted on their own vinifera roots.
