Soplo Garnacha 2009

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

I find Rafael Cambra’s Soplo intriguing and not only because of its vivid purple color and brooding personality. I also like the fact that it might be the only wine we currently sell that is 100% Garnacha Tintorera (a.k.a. Alicante Bouchet). Packed with dark fruit flavors and hints of smoke and spice there’s a bit of tension in the wine’s structure that makes it a little less obvious and therefore less ponderous. I like that.

A clean and modern garnacha, this feels summery in its mix of tart red fruit and sweet spice, at once rich and fresh. Drink it slightly chilled with tapas.

A light- to medium-bodied, soft red thatrsquo;s easy drinking and perfect for everyday meals. Bright cherry and ripe raspberry flavors are laced with white pepper notes.

Bodegas Rafael Cambrarsquo;s 2009 Soplo is 100% Garnacha Tintorera (Alicante Bouschet) aged for 3 months in seasoned French oak. Deep purple in color with fragrant aromas of blackberry, pepper, and violets, in the glass it is smooth, balanced, and spicy lacking only complexity. Drink this very good value over the next 4ndash;5 years.
