Sonoma Cutrer Pinot Noir W/Upc 2007
In this very unique vintage, heavy clusters led to both late ripening and a generous yield, one of the rare back to back vintages that turned the norm upside down and sideways. Spring rains that never seemed to stop added to the challenges in our vineyards. The heavy rains of spring turned into the deep, full reservoirs of summer, so that when water is valued, and needed most, it was available. Clusters matured slowly, growing ever more complex and bursting with flavor, offering crisp acids that provide fruit with a solid backbone for blending rich, supple Pinot Noir.
Food Pairings for Sonoma Cutrer Pinot Noir W/Upc
Every vintage of our Pinot Noir reveals another side to its complex and evolving personality. In this fifth vintage the aromas evoke earthy tones of fallen leaves, smoke and cedar, topped with mushroom, cocoa powder, sarsaparilla, toasty spice and a touch of black pepper before giving way and changing yet again to offer bright berry fruit and cherry cordial. Silky and rich tannins and a solid acid backbone enhance a well-structured wine with a round, creamy mouth-feel and a long, lingering finish. A pleasant barrel spice leads a cornucopia of flavors playing across red to black fruit and back again to red, featuring red currant, blackberry and pomegranate. Sonoma-Cutrer Pinot Noir typically continues to evolve over time, and we’ve yet to see all this wine can be.
