One of the top dinners of my life: Fresh Live Soft shell Lobster from Maine, Sonoma Cutrer Flight. We had RR, Les Pierre, Cutrer and the Reserve. If I could get the reserve, I'd be writing about it. The Cutrer is amazing, powerful and elegant.

i'm still quite a wine newbie so this shouldn't be taken as a connoisseur's assessment or anything, but i love this wine. it's got so much character...there's a lot going on in that glass, and all of it's very enjoyable. i've tried a couple of different vintages and the 2004 is unparalleled in my experience.

This is a great medium priced wine if you are looking for that big buttery California Chardonnay style. Always consistent. Not my style, but a very good wine for someone who isn't interesting in exploring the world of more interesting possibilities.

Flavors of baked apple appear alongside glazed pineapple and fresh tangerine, as a hint of clove entertains the taste buds. With its perfect backbone of acidity, the wine is fresh, alive and begging to be enjoyed again and again.

Wine Tasting NotesAt first the scent is creamy, yet clean, with essence of delicate green pear. With time in the glass, the flinty wet stone aroma takes over, coupled with overtones of rich, yeasty Champagne. The mouth is lush and ripe, yet at the same time firmly structured. The finish is Grand Cru Les Pierres ... firm, crystalline and mouthwatering.

Winemaker's Notes:

Intense aromas of ripe apple are dotted with cinnamon and clove, as hazelnuts bathed in cream join fragrant notes of acacia blossoms. In the mouth, the wine is dense and concentrated, while simultaneously offering a softer, sensual side. Flavors of baked apple, glazed pineapple and fresh tangerine, as a hint of clove. With its perfect backbone of acidity, the wine is fresh and alive. Pairing tip: Ideal with shellfish like lobster or fresh local crab, mild young goat cheeses, or a delightful sheep's milk cheese like Manchego.
