A chewy wine with a surprising bouquet for a Chardonnay. I'm not normally a white wine person, but this is definitely going in my cellar. Read more

WE 91pts - Winemaker Notes - Pretty aromas of jasmine and rose petal give way to tropical fruits like pineapple and mango. Roasted hazelnut joins nougat and almond butter, finishing with a touch of lime and lychee. Medium-weight and clean with a wonderful acid backbone, the wine expands in the glass, offering up grapefruit, lemon, pear and kumquat with subtle vanilla bean and herbal mushroom. The lingering finish displays hints of minerality, along with apple, lime and a surprising kiss of strawberry. A market basket of aromas and flavors.

Winemaker's Notes:
Grapes are hand-harvested in the dark of the early mornings in shallow bins to prevent crushing the clusters. They are then cooled down to 40°F to preserve the fruit’s fresh flavors and natural acidity. After hand-sorting, the grapes are whole-cluster pressed to avoid bitter tannins from the skins and grape seeds. The cool, clear golden-green free-run juice settles naturally in tanks for a few days before heading to French oak barrel for fermentation. Russian River Ranches is 100% barrel fermented and aged 6 months sur lies in French oak harvested into staves primarily from the Vosges and Allier forests. Barrels are 17% new oak and the remaining a combination of one-year-old through neutral oak. Seventy percent of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation to add just a touch of creaminess prior to blending.Aromas of minerality, wet stone and baked apples are complimented with the fresh notes of citrus blossom, lemon-lime and a touch of honey. This chardonnay is balanced with clean acidity and an elegantly creamy body. Bright and vibrant flavors of green apple, citrus lemon cream and pineapple are accented by subtle oak and an effortless finish.
