Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay Russian River Valley Russian River Ranches 2005
Wine Tasting Notes An aromatic melange of honey, lime zest and grilled pineapple first greets the nose, laced with suggestions of toffee, earth and seductive aromas of fresh-baked bread from the French oak barrels. This wine introduces itself like a fresh ocean breeze and unfurls on the palate with a smooth fruit entry of kiwi and green apple that grows in roundness at the center of the palate, enlivened with a very crisp lemony sensation and a delicate caramel toffee in the aftertaste.
This is a wine packed with full bodied oak and butter-like tastes. It's a fantastic wine to pair with seafood, and great in any weather. Typically, I drink this wine in the hotter months, as I am a seasonal drinker of wines, but I would recommend this wine in the early Fall or late Spring, too. This is full wine, and does indeed have a rich, balanced finish.
This full bodied wine is anything but sweet. It goes well with Red Meat and is a great sipping wine

The Cutrer is overtly California in style compared to Sonoma-Cutrer's masterpiece from the Les Pierres Vineyard. This wine is crafted from selected lots at the Russian River Valley estate, shows voluptuous ripe pear and apple fruit with a citrus and mineral overtone and a firm spine. Notes of spice and toasted oak are more prominent than in the current release of Les Pierres, but then this wine is one year younger and perhaps a year away from truly coming into its own. A Chardonnay for drinking now or cellaring
Using grapes from their renowned vineyards of "Cutrer" and "Vine Hill" Sonoma Cutrer has created a stunning new member to their noted family of wines. Well balanced with a citrusy nose and and slightly oaky flavors make this a perfect wine with grilled fish.

Food Pairings for Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay Russian River Valley Russian River Ranches
Very pretty aromas of jasmine and rose petal come quickly back to more expected tropical fruits like pineapple, mango and a bit of pear. Roasted hazelnut is joined with nougat and almond butter, finishing with a touch of lime and lichee. The wine is medium weight, clean with a wonderful acid backbone, and it expands from your first sip to your last, offering flavors of citrus, grapefruit, lemon, pear and kumquat, with subtle vanilla bean and a bit of herbal mushroom, with a lingering, memorable finish with hints of minerality and apple, lime and a surprisingly wonderful touch of strawberry. It’s a market basket of flavors, and one I know you’ll enjoy.
