These folks have taken what's traditionally been a blending grape and transformed into pure stand-alone gold for you! What did Rogov say about the 2003 vintage? Somek, Carignan, 2003: Dark garnet, full-bodied, with generous oak re-flecting its 20 months in barriques but that in fine balance with soft tan-nins, fruit and acidity. On the nose and palate blackcurrants, red plums and raspberry fruits together with generous doses of smoky toast and pepper and, on the moderately-long finish hints of vanilla and coffee. Drink now. Score 89.
