Editorial Reviews for Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir Dundee Hills Old Vineyard Block
Unusually smoky and showing some caramel sweetness on the nose right off the bat. There’s nice intensity to the loamy accented red cherry/cranberry fruit on the nose and the smoky and gentle toast fades nicely into the background mostly replaced by lightly herbal/floral aromas. This is nice if tense in the mouth with vibrant acids lending a touch of dried orange peel to the core of cherry/raspberry fruit. There are some gentle tannins here but this is light bodied and supply with nicely aromatic fruit in the mouth and then some licorice root and stem offering contrast on the moderately long finish. 88pts

I really enjoyed this wine. It has a powerful black cherry flavor which is balanced with the nice complexity of vegetal, mushroomy, and barnyardy loveliness. It lingered pleasantly on the palate.
This wine is truly an elegant pinot noir. Even in a vintage like 2006 where many Oregon wineries were producing pinot noirs as robust as cabernet, Sokol Blosser remains consistent to their style of producing pinot noir that is delecate, elegant, and layered. Cherries and raspberries evolve into sweet layers of fruit flavored candy while maintaining a perfect balance of flavors, mild earthinaess, and acidity
I'm not sure this was the exact vintage (it might have been an '05 or an '07), but this was a delicious pinot noir, with interesting earthy characteristics that added an Old World undertone.
I couldn't believe I scored this 2002 Sokol Blosser Dundee Hills Pinot Noir for $16.99. Smooth and elegant with layers of bright red fruit, anise, gum drops, and a hint of spiciness. Not as flavorful or complex as the 2006 or 2007, but very good wine for sure
Had this great noir in Rincon, Puerto Rico for Thanksgiving 2007. My girlfriend and I actually agreed it was terrific. Lighter body served a slant cold it is a gem.
External Reviews for Sokol Blosser Pinot Noir Dundee Hills Old Vineyard Block
Sokol Blosser has been producing stellar Pinot Noir from their Dundee Hills vineyards for over 30 years. In 2005, Dundee Hills was recognized with its own AVA within the Willamette Valley because of outstanding wines like this one with aromas of raspberry, black cherry, truffles and loam. Aged 16 months in French oak, on the palate it shows ripe berry and dusty cocoa that linger on the finish. The Wine Spectator scored it 90 points and said “Light and open-textured, with an earthy edge to the pretty raspberry and tangerine aromas and flavors, finishing silky.”
