Sobon Estate Zinfandel Amador County Old Vines 2009
Strong, Fruity, BOLD, and sweet full-bodied Zin. Delicious and powerful.
Rich berry color, medium-bodied, jammy fruit taste
BIg wine - quite peppery. Really liked this. (Third and last bottle at Erin and Doug's. It followed The Prisoner...)
Smoky, coffee aroma. Wonderful!

The vineyards are unirrigated and organically farmed, producing small bunches and small berries; yielding a mellow, very enjoyable wine with intense aroma and flavors.
A lush, seductively sexy wine, blessed with ripe, full, fleshy fruit that is smooth as silk and lays on the palate like a Madonna draped satin.
This delicious Zinfandel is produced from old vines in Amador County. Flavors of cocoa and blackberries ooze from the glass, making this sturdy and bold wine an absolute joy with hard cheeses or a grilled steak.
Natural winemaking is the vintner's goal, with special care given to every barrel and every bottle. This fruit-driven Zinfandel is deep purple in color. Ripe blackberries, blueberries and black cherries are prominent on the palate. Medium bodied, the wine has structure and mellow tannins. Serve with grilled blue cheese and bacon burgers.
Paul Sobon's father is from Western New York; in the 70s he moved his family out to California, where Paul took to winemaking. Thanks to the use of organic growing techniques, this wine shows off the purity of the Zinfandel grape. Sweet aromas of blackberry and raspberry waft up from the glass. The tannin level is balanced, and the finish is full and peppery, making the wine the best match for saucy barbecue. Chicken, pork, beef, doesn't matter.
This is a wonderful example of the "Amador" Zinfandel style. It has flavors of ripe blackberries, cherries and cocoa. Roast chicken with 40 cloves of garlic, steak with Madeira sauce or well-aged Parmigiano-Reggiano would complement this smooth and tasty wine.
Composed of 96% Zinfandel and 4% Grenache, this is a huge and lush red which is made of one hundred percent organically grown grapes. Plenty of blackberry and black cherry are complemented by creamy chocolate accents. A huge wine that offers tons of black raspberry fruit with the slightest hints of black pepper spice, to be enjoyed alongside grilled meats.
