This wine is bright, fresh, hedonistic, and YUMMY. The nose has loads of red fruit and berry flavors with a healthy dose of vanilla. It is the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup of Zinfandels. For this variety it does not deliver tannically, but is nevertheless smooth and well-balanced on the palate.

Maybe this deserves a four. This wine is a blend of Zin, Cab Sauv, Barbera, Syrah, Petite Syrah. Quality oak flavors and smooth, almost invisible tannins are surrounded by flavors from at least three or four fruits ranging from Raspberry and Cherry to cranberry. The jam-flavors are accented by a gentle peppery slap that reminds you that California blends can have some truly good flavors. This wine is a great value - each sip better than the one before.

I like spicy, fruity Zins and this one really fits the bill. Easy drinking, bold and goes well with spicy and/or grilled foods since it can holds its own.

The 2008 Old Vine is diffinitely a keeper. Slightly sweet with a lot of fruit and spice. A fun wine with complimenting flavor. The price makes it a steal. Well done!

The only thing vicious about this wine is how viciously good it is for such a low price! Ferociously fruity, the jammy strawberry notes follow through from the nose to the palate, and the flavors persist with a nice long finish. A dash of spicy black pepper heightens this Zin's complexity. The Vicious wines come from the Sobon Family - a highly-esteemed, substantial producer in Amador County, California. The goal of this line is to fight tough economic times with a friendly price tag while maintaining the viciously rich, delicious flavors that are characteristic of Sobon's wines. This is an easy-drinking wine that is great as a quaffer on its own or with a variety of foods. I paired it with chicken chilaquiles with chipotle tomato sauce and it was a hit!

Rest assured, the bark of this creature from the Amador Foothills is worse than its bite. Once off its leash, this young Zin displays an even temper with smooth cherry flavors, a sniff or two of barrel and spice, and a tail-wagging finish.

Natural winemaking is the vintnerrsquo;s goal, with special care given to every barrel and every bottle. This fruit-driven Zinfandel is deep purple in color. Ripe blackberries, blueberries and black cherries are prominent on the palate. Medium bodied, the wine has structure and mellow tannins. Serve with grilled blue cheese and bacon burgers.

The nose of this Zinfandel bursts out of the glass with fresh red berry pie notes accompanied by an undercurrent of vanilla and nutmeg spice. Berry compote along with spice and light earth emerge throughout the palate of this offering. The finish features some wild strawberry notes along with continued spice and vanilla notes. This is a fruity, concentrated wine thatrsquo;s quite lovely.

As usual, the Sobon Fiddletown is a stunning and multifaceted wine. It has intriguing aromas of spice and cherry, and also a breathtaking menthol quality about it. Rich and restrained, but very complex. Bravo!

From the land of the Gold Rush, Amador County, where the Zinfandel from old vines has a unique cocoa/mocha quality about it. The 2004 Hillside Zinfandelrsquo;s generous fruit reminds me of black raspberry jam made from the wild ldquo;black capsrdquo; I used to pick as a kid. Except without all of the scratches on my arms! This is Zinfandel so smooth and satisfying that itrsquo;s almost edible.

Winemaker's Notes:

Intriguing aromas of spice, cherry, and concentrated fruit: restrained, but very complex. The multiple flavors feature a toasty, dusty cherry component so typical of the Fiddletown area. The finish is long and lingering, and invites another taste.

This wine is comprised of Cabernet Sauvignon (40%), Zinfandel (36%), Petite Syrah (19%), and Malbec (5%). Recommended to pair with beef, pork, or chicken.
