Food Pairings for Snoqualmie Vineyards Whistle Stop Red Caberner Merlot Columbia Valley
Even though it's a Cab slash Merlot blend, it drinks more like Merlot. Soft, fruity and extremely drinkable, this wine is an excellent QVR and hits the mark on the price point. Soft on tannins, and not too much acid, it can still hold up to foods that don't have too much spice or heat. Think of it as a nice compliment to a good sweet barbecue sauce, or a nice grilled salmon with a dusting of Moroccan spice, dill or even a light curry. I would buy this again, especially for that group of friends getting used to drinking wine, but don't drink wine as a first thought. Probably better than some of the Columbia Crest blends in the same price range. Salud!
