Smoking Loon Syrah 2009

External Review by Premier Wine & Spirits:

This Syrah deals plenty of sweet fruit flavors (blackberry preserves, ripe plum) on the palate, and much the same (plus some herb) on the nose. A simple, easy wine at a good price.

Focused and lingering, with blackberry and huckleberry flavors that mingle nicely with mineral and savory Bay leaf, Syrah-like game and beef notes and a hint of white pepper and rosemary. Drink now through 2006.

Medium violet red color, with very plump plum and mission fig notes up front. Rich and supple on the palate, with dark chocolate, mocha and spicy white and black pepper, and a touch of French oak in the finish.

If you like Australian Shiraz, then you should try Syrah (same grape), especially this California delight. Hints of sun-warmed berries accented with a dash of spice produces a delightful wine to enjoy on a snowy evening with a bowl of chili.

Mocha and vanilla from toasty oak frame blackberry, fresh herb and cherry flavors. Earthy tannins linger. Drink now through 2007.

A smoky, meaty syrah with enough tannin to rock a bone-in pork chop.

Sleek and earthy, with mineral, dried berry, sage and underbrush notes that are complex and appealing. Drink now.
