What to Expect

California has long struggled with Pinot Noir. Finding the right vineyards for this most fickle of grape, one that enjoys a cool growing season yet needs warmth close to harvest to fully ripen, has proven a challenge in such a sunny state. Cooler areas eventually became identified; the Santa Rita Hills, Russian River Valley and Mendocino's Anderson valley are all prime spots for Pinot Noir in California. Unlike the lighter colored and sometimes delicate Pinots of Burgundy, California produces many rich, deep Pinots full of slightly chewy dark berry and cherry fruits with hints of cola, Asian spices and forest floor frequently adding complexity.

simply awful. the nose actually has some nice terroir, but this is just revolting. Looks like a rose. might need 100-150 years of cellaring. In all seriousness though, this wine actually goes well with sesame sticks.

A cheap Pinot. Not a whole lot else to it. It's fruity and light on the nose, but pretty shallow beyond that.

i think most of the raters here drank this vintage far too young. as of October, 2009 it's very pleasant. perhaps not the richest or most complex of pinots, but it's easily worth the ten dollars i paid. give it another year or two in the cellar and it may drink quite well.

Brilliant garnet color with a seductive rose petal green teaaroma. The palate is ripe with heavily extracted cherryand strawberry flavors with a slight astringency akin topomegranate seeds. This very generously fruit driven wine is a must withsmoked game hen with bitter greens or wild salmonwith a rich bearnaise sauce and roasted beets with achampagne vinaigrette.

Good pinot noir for the price and available in the local grocery.

Literally looks and tastes diluted. But a little less acidic than its 2005 pinot.
