Editorial Reviews for Smith-Haut-Lafitte Bordeaux Blend Wine
At the Chateau Very Cabernet driven on the nose with dried green chilies, smoke, cedar wood notes, a touch of juniper all over astringent red fruits. Spicy on entry with red fruits, vegetal tones and a touch of brambly, juniper like spice. Medium bodied and a bit soft on the mid-palate with nice ripe tannins and small red fruits accented by a bit of pipe tobacco on the moderate finish that shows some persistently sweet wood tones. 86pts

Racy and sweet with depth of perfume on the nose. Good balance of sweetness and power, with flower, chocolate, fruit, and soil throughout the palate. Medium finish. 91 points.
In Bordeaux tradition, a white was tasted last in a string of 2008 tastings. Beautiful floral nose. Rich mouth-feel, layered with Tropical fruit, citrus, and minerality. Good acidity on a medium plus finish. A white that should age incredibly well with a storage life of 10-30 years, but showing well already. 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillion, 5% Sauvignon Gris. 93 points.

Offers pure driven plum cassis and black cherry notes inlaid with graphite and roasted wood spice. Dense without being overextracted. Very sleek. Rock-solid.-J.M. Wine Spectator.
Shows lovely ripeness, with peach, melon rind and yellow apple fruit flavors, but still plenty tangy, with fleur de sel and gooseberry notes along the edges. "Under the capable hands of the Cathiard family, this property has been producing fabulous red and white wines.
