What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Editorial Reviews

Sweet and herbal on the nose with a pronounced mintiness and autumnal notes of cocoa and balsamic forest floor. There is a touch of peppery watercress and suggestions of candied red fruits. A touch of volatility mars the nose. Elegant and pure in the mouth with sappy berry fruit and classic notes of bramble that are more vegetal that usual. Soft tannins and juicy acidity support the bright red candied fruits with grace notes of blackberry leaves and dirt adding depth and complexity. A touch astringent and decidedly tart this is cleansing and refreshing in the mouth in an easy drinking style but suffers read more...

Reviews

Raspberry heavily prevalent in this simple, medium-bodied wine. Very ripe flavor, and a lot of citric acid.

Very ethanolic on the nose. Hot and fiery with strong plum notes. Despite being mountain fruit its clearly a hot year. In the mouth however, its surprisingly restrained. Not old world restrained, but restrained as in balance. Very nice cherry and tobacco notes and some nice spice and pepper on a surprisingly earthy mineral finish. Pretty tasty

Floral, concentrated, dried raisin nose. Palate is very dry with rough tannins, powerful berry flavors and a medium acidity. It's quite tart in the mouth and on the finish.

Hot nose full of red fruits. Spicy but not overly spicy. Dark and light colored fruit flavor. Dry. Very enjoyable and drinkable.
