Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

A bit indistinct on the nose. Shows an attractive if odd array of aromas that range from figs to creamy oak, and settle into a beefy, herbal and mineral toned groove with air. On the palate, this is soft and well balanced with an easy style. Pleasant, slightly olivey red berry fruit is accented with mineral notes and tannins that build on the back end, clipping the finish. 88pts

Pulled this out on my wife's birthday with about a dozen friends and family in the kitchen eating pizza and everyone enjoyed. Big tannins, but balanced with fruit an nice long finish. Very dry. Noticed a number of guests picking up and looking at the bottle. Pulled out the second bottle which I rarely do. A friend that did not attend tried it a few days later and though it was closed and over the top.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino saturates the palate with deep layers of dark red fruit, violets, new leather and spices. The aromas and flavors grow beautifully with air, showing remarkable intensity all the way through to the expansive, textured finish. This is a brilliant effort from Giancarlo Pacenti. The Brunello saw 18andndash;20 days on the skins, followed by malolactic fermentation and aging in French oak barrels, of which roughly 80% were new. The vineyard sources are approximately 4.5 hectares in Santandrsquo;Angelo and Piancornello (in the south of Montalcino) and 5 hectares in Pelagrilli (in the north). Anticipated maturity: 2016andndash;2026.

Gorgeous, perfumed aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry follow through to a full body, with super well-integrated tannins and a long finish. Wonderfully crafted for the vintage. Best after 2009.

I can't believe how the nose changes from white truffle to berry and black cherry and then goes blueberries and citrus fruits. Full and soft and velvety. It is layered and massive with so much going on. Now sweet tobacco and berries. A wine that is i... James Suckling. Pacenti's 2006 Rosso di Montalcino is a sleek, lush wine loaded with soft-textured fruit that flows onto the palate with remarkable elegance and finesse. With air it gains weight and expansiveness in a gorgeous display of Rosso. As is often the case,... Robert Parker. Perfumed with rose and ripe cherry. Full-bodied, with bright acidity and clean, mineral, floral and berry character on the palate. Tight and firm, but shows wonderful promise. This is chewy and develops in the glass. Best from 2011 through 2017.

An iron streak runs through the middle of this firmly structured Brunello, leading to core flavors of black cherry, tobacco and wild herbs. This stays taut and racy through the finish, but needs time to soften its tannins. Best from 2013 through 2025.-B.S.
