Classic, strong, elegant and finely structured - these are the distinctive qualities I associate with this 2005 Pinot Noir from Yamhill Valley Vineyards in Oregon. Cooler temperatures and a later harvest have contributed to creating a full, rich, juicy wine with dark pigment, bright fruit and fresh acidity. It is an excellent match with flavorful meats, lamb, game, and seafood such as salmon. Its intense black cherry nose, ripe tannins and tart fruit promise exciting cellaring. Right now, it is lush and plump on the palate.
